luisfperez.jpegI am a doctoral student in the Department of Special Education at the University of South Florida, where I also work for the Florida Center for Instructional Technology. At FCIT, I was the Project Manager for Tech Ease 4 All, a collection of assistive technology tutorials for teachers. I am now part of the iTeach Initiative, which provides support to pre-service teachers with technology integration projects.

My interest in assistive technology is personal as well as professional. As a person with a disability (I am visually impaired), I know firsthand what a difference technology can make in the lives of people with disabilities. I consider myself an Inclusive Learning Evangelist who advocates for the rights of people with disabilities to have equal access to information and all of the rights of a digital economy.

I was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2009.
